Homeopathic medicine works by stimulating your body’s natural healing abilities. This natural and effective system of medicine has stood the test of time – originating in Germany in the 18th century; it is widely practiced throughout the world. Based on proven principles about health and disease, homeopathy can be used to successfully treat all manner of health conditions.

Stimulation of your body’s natural healing abilities

Rather than just suppressing symptoms of ill health, homeopathy seeks to address the underlying energetic imbalance that led the symptoms to arise in the first place. In so doing, homeopathy boosts the immune system and provides the potential for improved health and well-being. This also makes homeopathy a fantastic form of preventative medicine – helping you to maintain good health and vitality. 

Potential for genuine improvement in health and well-being 

In homeopathy symptoms are viewed as the result of an underlying imbalance in the body. It is this energetic imbalance that needs to be treated if symptoms are to be properly cleared from the body and health and well being is to genuinely improve. For example, some people take repeated courses of antibiotics to fight bacterial infections with little success. The bacteria involved are often commonly found in healthy people. However, in the sick individual the bacteria have got “out of control” because their health is out of balance, with the immune system functioning poorly.

Holistic, individually tailored treatment

Your body and mind are intimately connected, and all the organ systems in your body influence each other in a synergistic way. Rather than just looking in isolation at a problem, such as arthritis in your knee, consideration is also given to any accompanying mental, emotional and physical symptoms. Homeopathic prescriptions are individually tailored - it’s unusual for someone with the same clinical diagnosis (e.g. hayfever, chronic fatigue) to get the same medicine as we all differ, in subtle ways, as to how we express disease.

A huge range of conditions may be treated with homeopathy, be they physical or mental/emotional. Homeopathy works best when people commit to playing a part in their own healing process. My clients often wish to:

Homeopathy is fantastic for conditions associated with pregnancy and child birth, and for treating all manner of conditions of babies and children.

Some examples are teething problems, recurrent colds, ear infections, bed wetting and the wide variety of behavioural problems that children can experience. I find homeopathy to be very effective for autoimmune diseases, digestive problems, fatigue, anxiety and depression, addictions, skin problems, allergies and sleep problems.

I also help teenagers with health issues like acne and low self-esteem, and treat a wide range of women’s and men's health issues.

About Jennie McMurran

I have full registration with the New Zealand Council of Homeopaths and hold a National Diploma in Homeopathy. This course involved four years of study covering homeopathic medicines, homeopathic philosophy, clinical training, pharmacology, anatomy, physiology and pathology. It’s important to keep learning. I regularly attend seminars with world-leading homeopaths, and other continuing education activities. I am also a partner in the Kids’ Ear Clinic, a specialist homeopathic clinic for children with ear, nose and throat problems.

I love the challenge of tailoring a homeopathic prescription to each individual and working with my clients towards their improved health and wellbeing. Homeopathy allows me to combine my analytical background in policy and natural resource management with my intuition. 

My choice is to specialise in homeopathic medicine supplemented with homeobotanicals and Australian bush flower essences. I don’t hesitate to recommend other therapies where I think they may be beneficial
