Expertise: Feldenkrais Method
Member since: May 2008
The Feldenkrais Method helps us move with ease.
It gives easy steps to improve posture, breathing, aches and pains, walking, sport and arts performance.
Works with the nervous system to improve body awareness, which helps reduce excessive tension and spread effort for effective action. Its background is an intriguing combination of martial arts, child development, and learning for life. Very good for helping people with neurological disorders and major rehab issues, but also as effective as yoga in increasing general flexibility, suppleness and strength.
I made a mid-life career change from politics, the media and communications feeling I wanted to work at something more uniquely me.
Spurred by a keen interest in sport, I first studied massage and then discovered the wonderful world of mind-body relationships, including Alexander Technique and the Feldenkrais Method.
Finding the Feldenkrais approach suited me "down to the ground" I completed the four year Feldenkrais Professional Training Programme run in Auckland 1999 - 2002.
I now run Ghuznee Health Associates in the city and offer a massage/Feldenkrais practice that stretches literally from the Beehive to the Zoo. And now I’m in the Wairarapa too.
I am passionate about the strategic possibilities of the Feldenkrais Method for helping people take more control of their own well-being and health, and deepening their enjoyment of life.
Feldenkrais trainings take four years. I graduated from the second New Zealand Professional Feldenkrais Training in Auckland 2002.
I have also become a certified Breema practitioner, having trained at the Breema Center, Oakland. I am the only one currently in New Zealand.
